Interesting. I wondered what pattern it was and thought it was something different. Have one here too, same pattern same years, but the nick is in a different place and the blade profile looks different to me too. Learn something every day. Beautiful knife.

I've often wondered about that nail nick. Someone asked me if the blade had been replaced. I bought the knife used in the '90s when I was first starting to think like a collector. The tang stamp is genuine Case and the blade is carbon steel. I keep meaning to do some research on it but I'm lazy. So, while I have noticed the difference, I don't have an explanation for it. It's been a great EDC since I snagged it.

We took my Finch Tikuna and Cocobolo GEC 152121 Huckleberry Boys Knife to the lake today on our daily walk.
They enjoyed it.

Ivoryman got me thinking about my Case 6235 1/2 Jackknife and the nail nick. So I looked at an older version that I have. Below is a side by side shot of both knives. On the left is a well worn 40-64 that does not have the 6235 1/2 stamp (Or it has been worn off) and on the right is the 64-69 that I have been carrying. The other difference is the older knife has the master blade to the front with the secondary blade behind while the newer knife has the secondary blade to the front with the master blade behind. I purchased both knives used so one or both of them could have been altered at some point. Which means I'm going to have to do more research to find out what the answer is.

Great pair of bones your have there. Interesting comparison. Wonder if Case just moved the nicks at some point? Clip profile too maybe. I don't know but I noticed it was different. Interesting anyway to see the slight variations and change over time.
