Greenbone thread!

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Very nice group of Greenbones.

I don't see any 07s in your pile, though...and as it so happens, I have only 07s in my Greenbone pile.

Nice knives! There are several older greenbone threads with some beautiful old knives pictured in them. Here’s just one of them. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5900 I guess I’m a greenbone snob but if it’s not a Case Tested era (there were a few early Case XX also but not many), as far as I’m concerned it’s an imposter. JMO.

Carry on.

Larry, those are a couple of gorgeous 72 patterns. ::tu:: ::tu:: I can recall seeing the stag 5172 zipper posted on AAPK before, but I believe your 6172L Zipper is the first and only bone model to make an appearance on AAPK.

Never fully understood what makes "Greenbone" green. Sure includes a wide array of shades?? ::hmm:: J.O'.

I believe it’s because for the most part case didn’t make any other color bone, so all bone was “green”

Then comes the xx era where

Bone, red are visibly different, and the residual run off of tested era into the xx era was coined greenbone.

This is just my speculation.
