I agree%, buddy!
I was fortunate enough to have had my father teach me how to take care of , reseason and refurbish cast iron cookware.. I have several Griswolds that we're my dad's.. also, after my dad passed away she met a gentleman that is part of our family now that also is into collecting etc.. cast iron cookware... He is really into it! He has dozens of all sizes, shapes ect.. that he uses, refurbishes and gifts etc... I can dry an egg in any of mine with just a tiny amount of oil... I use them daily

I use Olive Oil, the reason i use this is very simple, it has a lower smoking point, so when she starts to smoke, that is the perfect cooking and seasoning temp. The thing with cast iron as you would well know is heat control, too hot and you just burn everything, but olive oil has the perfect temp, and because i use it for cooking, it is what i use to season with.

That's one of the best cooking tips I've ever heard, definitely going to share it with the whole family.

My wife loves to make cucpakes - that's her thing. She tried a new recipe last night at the request of my son in law - Banana's Foster Cupcakes. They were delicious.

My wife has the same complaint. I still use cast iron when I cook (skillets and a couple of Dutch ovens) but she does most of the cooking so the cast iron is usually waaay in the back of the cabinets. She used to cook in it a lot but just can’t handle it well since having carpal tunnel surgery a few years ago,Steve Warden wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 4:56 pmNiiiiiiiice!
I've always thought it would be cool to use cast iron. I know many who do and they say the results are great. The problem in that Becky does most of the cooking, and the dang stuff is too heavy for her to lift without it hurting her hands (arthritis).
Mike, those cupcakes look delicious!

They were delicious! But by the time we gave some to our neighbors, and our friends, and a dozen to my son-in-law, I only got 2!

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
A few pictures from a walk yesterday. Some snow on the ground and cold. In this area there was a lot of what is called Medina Red Sandstone quarried some 100 years ago. Many of the churches and old houses used this stone. Much of it was used for the banks of the Erie Canal that is nearby. The quarries were abandoned and they made great fishing and swimming holes that I enjoyed in my youth. Pictures included are of one of the smaller quarries that is frozen over. Also a picture of a NY winters' supply of firewood.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Thanks for sharing those Wayne. I've spent a little time up your way and find the area very attractive. The Erie canal right of way for sure. Been around Lockport many times.

My daughter painted this sign for my birthday a couple of months back. Hung it up in my shop.
