Case 5111 1/2 4 dot
Case 5111 1/2 4 dot
Picked this up the other day real cheap and wanted to see what some of the experts think . First thing the writing on the blade is missing. The knife looks as if it has never been carried. Don’t know why they remove stamping on the blade. The the more I look at it the blade seems short. Compared it to a bone handled 6111 and it has a longer blade but I know they are to different styles but same frame. Probably just pack it sometimes unless someone thinks there’s a chance it hasn’t been worked on.
Re: Case 5111 1/2 4 dot
The dotted knives with etched blades were not saber ground. Maybe the etch has been removed. What is the complete tang stamp? A 4 dot 1976 would be a Razor edge etch. These etches were often very light.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Re: Case 5111 1/2 4 dot
It’s a 4 dot 1976 gray scroll. The scroll is missing and that made me think maybe the blade had been damaged and shortened. It may be the right length. I don’t guess any could have gotten out of the factory without the etching.Like I said I didn’t give much for it because I new it was missing the etching. Thanks for the reply I will post another picture of the back side

Nice knife and sounds like you got a good deal.

I'm no expert but the blade does look a tad short to me. Still a nice knife nonetheless.
