Spent a couple of hours wandering around a mature woods this morning. I "discovered" a large, old Maple, today's carry in picture for perspective. I also found the tangled mass of Riverbank Grape vines interesting. I don't know how long those things live, but I would guess that to be an old vine. There isn't much green to be found in Winter, but I included a pic of a Cutleaf Grape Fern and the base of a large Oak covered in moss.

Nice pictures Ike. Here on our place we have several vines that get really big if left to grow. Wild mustang grapes, Supplejack, Smilex, and Poison Ivy are common in the creek bottoms. They all have some type of fruit which makes the birds happy. We rarely get any grapes - the birds are much better at getting them than me and always beat me to them. Lucky if I get a handful. Supplejack makes the bees happy in the spring.

Ike, I too, took a while to find that knife! Crazy, it's in plain sight. I was just about to call my wife over, to find it. Neat pictures! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

Glad I was able to provide a little "find the hidden item" entertainment. FYI, the knife is on the small side @ 3 1/4".

When I lived in Hawaii, I would sometimes visit a friend whose house was at the water's edge on the North Shore. I would easily spend a couple of hours there, just me and the sea.

Here are a couple of pictures of the Tall Ships taken when they were visiting Boston back in the 1970's(could have been 1976 for the Bicentennial).Pictures were taken off Revere Beach which is just north of Boston.Thought the look of them in the overcast made a good shot.

Beautiful shots, Q.

K7K, those are good photos, as you say, especially interesting with the overcast look. I saw one of those tall ships back in '76. I was living in Michigan at the time, after the bicentennial festivities on the East coast, one of them traveled the St Lawrence Seaway to the Great Lakes. I saw it as it stopped over at Grand Haven on the way to Chicago. It drew a good crowd and was a good experience. Thanks for resurrecting that memory! :)

Those are great pics Ryan! And I really like the pattern on the handles of that knife, very nice. My dad used to say, “there are two things you can’t farm without, a CASE pocket knife and a Zippo lighter.” Many times I’ve used a zippo to melt the ice off a snap on a gate chain in the winter so I could feed hay, the hay strings cut with my CASE knife of course. Or cut nylon rope to make a quick halter with my CASE, and then burn the end with a zippo to keep it from fraying.

CASE and ZIPPO just seem to go together.
