6216 1/2 blade positions
6216 1/2 blade positions
There is a 6216 up for bid right now that's really nice. However, the main clip is positioned behind the pen. I have a 62009 barlow with that arrangement...it is a really nice example and I'm glad I have it but I find that I dont carry it as much because I'm not a big fan of the position of the blades...just seems difficult to open for me. I think maybe every 6216 I've seen is this way. That doesn't mean much since I haven't seen a lot of this pattern so was wondering if Case produced a 6216 with the main blade in front. I know they did barlows both ways.

Master blade in the back (pile side) position is standard on the 16 pattern.

Yes, on XX and USA (not Tested) that is true.
Re: 6216 1/2 blade positions
Thanks to you both. Is this pattern a bare head version or at least close to the same as a 6235 but without a bolster and of course, master blade on pile side? I do like 6235s. Maybe like 6202 and 6214 are similar in the same way?
Re: 6216 1/2 blade positions
And...I think I've seen 6235s with the master on the pile side too

Re: 6216 1/2 blade positions
That's been a pet peeve of mind for as long as I can remember. I can't stand the big blade behind the small blade. It never made sense to me. That's why they call it the "main blade", it's the one you go to first.
I would have bought a lot more of those kinds of knives if it weren't for that idiotic idea.

Quite the opposite, I love the secondary in front, therefore both nail nicks are on the same (pile) side.
I don't have to flip the knife over to find the blade I wish to use. Of course this only applies to two-bladed knives w/blades on the same end. Opposite-ended and three or more blades need not apply.
Use being the key word here. Since I am an accumulator, not a collector, and generally
use the knives for their intended purpose, I suppose that makes me an idiot . . . .

Re: 6216 1/2 blade positions
Very logical.
Do you suppose that’s why they did it that way?

Personal preferences don't make people closed minded, and I didn't say you were an idiot, I said the idea was idiotic. But if you feel that way about yourself, then...

And happy Thanksgiving everyone...I'm learning alot since coming to this forum and I'm thankful for all that have shared their knowledge here. Appreciate y'all taking the time to respond to questions and help me learn.
Re: 6216 1/2 blade positions
That is a CASE 6217 aka Loomfixer. The main blade is a huge ol sheepsfoot and the secondary is a big pen blade.
On your Barlow I can see how that’s a problem.
