What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

What are the handles on the 881 ?
I have owned older Schrade-Walden with similar dark jigged handles and i could not decide if bone or synthetic.

This one came recently from Jeffin rescaling, love the color and bone and the fit and finish, fabulous reassembly. Also he left the blades as they were and whoever had it before me put edges on or used them down until their isn't much bevel on the Clip or spay, but nice one on the sheep. Thing is they are amazing to sharpen, just strop on leather, two or three minutes back and forth. Hair popping for months after that. I cut for months between rub downs on the leather and never really have to put it to stone or diamond. Sweet edge angle and sweeeeeeeeeeet old steel.

1957 was the last year they listed these 877 knives so they are nearly all "senior citizens". They are a favorite pattern of mine. Small scissors find many uses.

No doubt! With legalization on October 17, 2018 life got a lot more relaxed in Canada. I'm a coffee and a spliff kind of guy.

I like to offer my guests a robust choice of flavors. :)

I picked up a pretty decent schrade walden 880. Really nice bone. It still has some of the etch too.

Here is another Schrade-Walden bone 880 "Kon-Kav", likely same age as the 880 above.
And a Kon-Kave 863 with bone (i think) handles.
Saber ground blades make a knife look more 'powerful'.

I'm with doglegg. Both are great knives but the 863 stands out. The sabre ground blades do have a unique look.
