Tips for restoring bone handle for 62031 1/2 XX

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Tips for restoring bone handle for 62031 1/2 XX

Post by Hesmikeb »

I apologize if there is a better section to ask this question but I'm new to the site. Bought this the other day to motivate myself to give repair a try...and I love the pattern. The blades function well with good snap and half stops....there is a very slight wobble in the main clip which isn't enough to bother me. Looking for some tips to fill in the missing bone. I have a few old case knives that were in my grandfather's drawer that are broken with partial pocket worn bone scales that I might could use....not the same color but that's ok with me. Even if I filled it in with wood would be ok with me...just looking for ideas and experience out there

Take a look here viewtopic.php?f=37&t=57370. Others may have something else to share but the tips in that old thread may help you. ::tu::

I also agree. Acre glass works great. You can even jig to match if you want to.
