What does DR mean

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

What does DR mean

Post by jerryd6818 »

I bought a Mini-Trapper that has red bone handles. The spey blade is stamped as seen below. I went to the Case research section and the knife doesn't even come close to matching the DR in the list (also shown below) nor the D, nor the R. So what does DR mean for this knife? I assumed the R stood for red but the D has me stumped.

Not to be confused with SR (scarlet rose).

Not my knives or pictures, posted for examples only.

Scarlet? or Smooth Rose? ::shrug::

Research section says "Smooth" (but IMHO Scarlet makes more sense)

Here's another example that through me for a loop when I got the knife in 2008. I didn't know what the TH stood for but thanks to Case's re-release of the pattern, I know now.

They sneak these things in on us from time to time. This one had me stumped for over a decade until they brought the pattern back earlier this year and I saw the SHC description.

Holy cats! There's a Billy Blue Ton of those little fellers. Reckon they sell very many of them? Little knives (less than 3") don't seem to sell well.
