Need help finding info.

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Need help finding info.

Post by Mundrul »

Hello, I have a Case XX Limited Edition knife from 1999-2000. Trying to find out any details involving name, handle material and price. The only information I currently have is it item no. 07976, year:1999-2000, and on the label it says '749L 61749L SSM o/red SM BN Module 2N. The knife handle is a smooth red wood. Year is estimated label on box says 2000 but the year identifier says 1999.

Mundrul, ::welcome:: to AAPK! Sounds like you have some version of a 49 pattern, commonly known as a Copperhead pattern. If you could possibly post some clear pictures of the knife, also closeup of the tang stamps, someone will be able to provide most of the details of your knife.

Welcome to AAPK. From your description of the label your knife is a smooth old red bone mini-copperlock pattern. The “6” in the pattern number is the designator for bone, plus the label description SM BN is abbreviation for SMooth BoNe. Module 2N is the manufacturing line on which your knife was made at the factory.

As treefarmer said, pictures of the knife and the box label will be helpful. Your best source of value is an advanced search of sold listings of the same or similar knife on eBay.

I have to say, those pictures are lacking.

Seriously, they didn’t show so you may need to try once more. Pictures will almost always help others here to help you.
