Well, finally....yesterday a Schrade 863 I ordered finally came in. The scales are not cracked, blades are tight, no wobble with great snap on all blades, but does have some scratches & spots on the blade, with some past life sharpening issues it looks like. But It will clean up nice. A nice addition to my Camillus 72 clones. I am proud to add it as I've not had much luck finding a 863 in decent shape.

Now a little back story. I ordered this from the seller on the night of the 1st of this month. He put it in the mail on the 3rd. He and I were in communication. He and I both had gotten concerned that it might have been lost. From the 5th to the 12th there was only one update. He contacted the USPS about a trace to find where the item may be in transit. The USPS person he talked to told him they had no other way to track it than what he has i.e. the tracking number. I've had items lost in the past I've ordered from business that had the basic USPS Priority Mail tracking. The USPS was able to contact the last check point, find which truck number it was on and contact the driver to find the location. I hate to use the word assume, so I'll say guessing they use Qualcomm or whatever the latest satnav systems they are using in the transport industry. This example is clearly a lack of USPS wanting to be of assistance. O.K. Rant over, I am glad for he and I that the package arrived. Just for proof here is the tracking info

Thanks for sharing this, I too have problems with the USPS. :x
Here's my rant ::barf::
I'm quoting my post master, "I have over 40 complaints about her and wish I could fire her but she's protected by the union". Me, " but I caught her on video purposely throwing my packages into an area that was obviously my dog's". That was over three years and two post masters ago, luckily she didn't injure or kill my dog (dogs eat things) but the complacency at my small post office continues. I could produce a list of questionable deliveries, some damaged, many obviously inspected, others sent to wrong addresses, returned to sender or their favorite excuse [eternally] "in transit".

I think the scam is that the thieves just don't scan all the packages, at least not the ones they plan on keeping anyways. All this because I asked her to quit driving onto areas of my front yard that was not intended to be driven on. She would leave pot holes reversing out.

If we mess with mail, federal offense but a postal employee won't even get reprimanded.
::huff::
I got one right now that's been "in transit" at one location for 6 days, I know things don't just simply disappear.

That's why I shifted to having evrything sent to a PO box - I was loosing 3 to 5 packages a month, either due to mailbox shoppers or porch pirates or unscrupulous delivery folks.

Since shifting to a PO box, I have only had 1 package truly lost. I've had 2 where the seller inadequately secure the item and all that showed up was empty boxes which insurance claims could not be filed on because the package itself was delivered and a couple take forever to show up. Over the last 9 years my PO box has gone from about $65 / year to $94, but that's still less than $8 a month for "secure delivery".

I occasionally encounter a seller who refuses to ship to a PO box because they say some random address is safer than a secure building, or they only use FedEx or UPS, which doesn't ship to a PO box.

So I just give them my POs physical address with my box number as the "Unit #XXXX". Addressed like that, my PO accepts FedEx and UPS deliveries. The rare idjet who thinks a PO is not a safe location sends it there anyways.

:shock:
Wow! That's exactly what I went through too. I was losing out in the same ways, then I got a PO box but encountered that same seller shipping issue until I changed it the same way you're doing it now but their newest fad behavior is that it's "in transit". *My post office is small but unions and nepotism don't help the situation.
Appreciate your feedback. ::handshake::

Got these 3 in the mail today. Man are they dirty, but the blades are all in
good shape and the handles fine except for one small chip on the Kamp King.
After I clean them up they will look great and have another 40+ years in them.
Front: Camillus 18 Jack Knife
Back L: Imperial Kamp King
Back R: Kutmaster Electrician's Knife.

These came in the mail today.
1st a three inch single blade easy open Jack made by Syracuse Knife Company. The tang stamp has the arched "Syracuse" over Straight line Knife Company, over Syracuse N.Y. From my research this stamp was from 1935-1940, but was produced by Camillus. This one has some wear, but the blade is tight and has great snap and solid half stop. I am proud of this one, I've got a whopping $12 dollars in it.

Syracuse Knife Co c.png
Syracuse Knife Co a.png
The next one is a Kutmaster 3-5/8" equal end jack. The handles appear to be bone. There is a sliver cracked off the pile side handle on the top, and you can see the textures looking down on the handle. I had to do a mineral oil bath & flush and some cleaning. It was tight and had some light surface rust. It had been sitting in a drawer or toolbox somewhere for a while. Inside was pretty gunky. The main blade has good snap, but the pen blade is on the weak side. But it cleaned up nice. I just need to dress the blades with a good sharpening and it will be ready for my EDC rotation.
