Beautiful shot. Wish our milkweed around here looked like that. What we typically have here has a nondescript cream colored flower. There are so many different kinds of milkweed, and I think each is host to a unique species of butterfly.

It was somewhat of an epiphany yesterday when I saw that Milkweed, you know, you take something for granted for years and then it hits you upside the head with its' uniqueness.
It was kind of like being back in 8th grade and noticing the formerly "plain Jane" girl one desk over, that you have known your entire life, and thinking, "wow! She is beautiful!"

QS, it is in the nature of a knife to cut. No animosity, just doing what it does.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 7:00 pm Some knives don't seem to enjoy being inspected and wiped down. So they bite.

Saw this unique floral butterfly today. Made from a welded frame supporting two large hanging baskets. On the old courthouse square in downtown McKinney, TX.

Had fun yestiddy (NOT). The boss needed gas for her car, as we were pulling up to the pump the alarm went off and I figured the low gas alarm had sounded, filled it up, got in to leave she says that's the low tire pressure alarm.
Had to have the tire replaced, thank goodness for road hazard insurance. Hope somebody is not locked out.

Ken,
Looks like you got this job under control! I can remember cuttin' hay with a sickle bar mower and then graduating up to using a bushhog with all the side panels removed so it wouldn't beat the hay up too bad. That was many moons ago.

My first time ever seeing a lash-up like that. What's it's advantage over other methods. Strange looking devil.

Ken,
My new mower is a little smaller than yours!
Also saw this hairy guy walking across my back yard the other day. I saw my dog poking at something in the grass and figured it was a copperhead, but it was only this guy. I took the dogs in the house and let the tarantula go on about his day.

My family and my wife's family have lived in Texas since 1844, when it was the Republic of Texas. I have been lucky in my job to be able to travel the globe and see many countries, and make friends from those countries. But I can't imagine ever living anywhere but Texas. I guess it's in my bones.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Mike if that’s your first zero turn mower you’re gonna love it. I’ve had several over the last twenty years and have two now. I’ll never go back to a conventional riding mower.
You can go to YouTube and find a lot of videos showing the contraptions in operation and more detailed explanation. Just search for mower conditioner. There are different kinds (sickle or disc cutters) each with pros and cons depending on what kind of hay you’re cutting.
Ken
Jerry that’s an offset mower/conditioner. Offset means your cutter is to one side of the mower which means your tractor is running on ground where you’ve already cut. So you’re not running over and mashing down the grass before you cut it. May not seem a big deal but you get better yield (more hay). The cutter does what you expect but the grass also goes through rollers which crimp it, in other words break and crush the stems. That allows moisture to evaporate faster so you don’t have to leave it drying tin the field as long before you can bale it. And last but not least it throws the grass out the back in a single row (windrow) which makes it easier for the rake to “tether” (fluff it) for the baler to pick it up.jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 18, 2020 12:28 pm My first time ever seeing a lash-up like that.
