Camillus 72 Clones

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

I received this knife this morning, another Camillus 72 variation. Another Craftsman 9494, 3 blade, swelled center, "whittler" pocket knife. (This is NOT the same knife from a couple of posts above this one.) It needed a cleaning and it received one. I took some pictures and here it is. Sorry about the pictures being blurry, my camera is starting to crap out.

Today I'm adding this knife to my Camillus 72 variation family. Another, and this makes #4, Camillus 72(Y), 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, Yello-Jaket "whittler" pocket knife. It needed no cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Fished a little Imperial Scout Knife of the 72 ilk out of the bay last week. I don't think I have an Imperial so I was glad to get it. It has the gold shield as opposed to the silver one. I wonder if they differentiated between regular scout and leader. Anyway glad to get it. Thanks for looking. ::handshake::

Yes I know I shouldn't open two blades on the same spring, I just like the way it looks.

Today I acquired this Camillus 72 variation knife. It's a SCHRADE WALDEN, 3 blade, swelled center, CRAFTSMAN "whittler" pocket knife. My first SCHRADE WALDEN tang stamp for this model of knife. It is a "9494" even without it being stamped as such. It appears to be in pretty good condition. I'll check it out when it arrives and do any cleaning that might be necessary. Pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).

I just acquired this knife, another "72" variation. Yes, it's another Craftsman 9494, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. It is definitely going to need a cleaning. When I receive it, I'll look it over and clean it up. Pictures will be taken and posted in the appropriate location(s).

This little Chinese copy of the 1047 (72) arrived today. It is not a bad little knife. Better fit and finish and walk and talk than the Bear. The blade grinds aren't that great but actually a pretty knice little knife.

Skip it appears to be the standard 3 9/16. It and the Imperial seem to be the same size.

Excuse me gentlemen. I hate to be picky but the official length of a Camillus 72 is 3-5/8" closed.
