Do Select *254W Wharncliff Trappers exist?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Do Select *254W Wharncliff Trappers exist?

Post by Modern Slip Joints »

Did Case make Select *254W SS Wharncliff Trappers? The Select knives were made in the 1990s and maybe into the 2000s. Unlike most of Case's standard production slip joints they have nickel silver liners and pins. The 4 1/8" standard size Select Trappers also have long pull standard clip blades rather the the Trapper's traditional master blade which is closer to a Turkish clip.

A week has passed and this thread has been looked at 137 times without anyone writing that they've seen one so I think it's safe to say that they are scarce if they exist at all. Probably the only knives Case combined those two blades in were the 5 blade Trappers made after 2000.

It's not a select but it is a 254W. I haven't seen many of the 54W's.

Occasionally I see bright green Select 6207W Mini-Ts on evil bay but like those green 6254W Wharncliff Trappers they have the standard master clip blade. The only select features the Select 6207W Mini-Ts have are their nickle silver liners and pins. If I recall correctly QTCut5 has one.

You do recall correctly...I have a SELECT 6207W Bermuda Green (jerryd has one too).

I also have a SELECT 6207W Brick Red (jerryd has one too)

But, I do not collect full size trappers and have never seen a SELECT 6254W, so I really don't know if Case ever made such a model. You might have better luck posting your query on the CCC website...someone there probably knows.

It would not be a big risk speculating that QTCut5 has an example of any *07W that we run across. That'll end when I find a 5207W at a garage sale for $4. :D

There are many 07Ws that I don't have (yet)...or at least I hope there are...the Monkey demands a continuous supply of fresh kill to appease his ravenous appetite...and the Monkey must be fed!

I think you're more likely to find a 6207W with stag handle scales, i.e., a bone-handled knife that has been modified/customized. I'm convinced Case never released a factory 5207W. But in the unlikely event you do happen upon a genuine Case factory-made 5207W at a garage sale for $4.00, you should try to bid the seller down to a more reasonable price...say, $2.50.
