Case Brothers Question

Guys,
I am unable to find any info on this knife.
As you can see in the photos it is stamped with the curved CASE BROS/CUTLERY.CO. Clearly a modern knife and likely a SFO but for whom? Any idea when? I suspect it is from the late 1990s but just a guess. Any clue as to the Case box it might have been in? I looked in Steve Pfeiffer's book but found nothing.
Anyone out there with any info.

That is a modern knife, post-2000. Made by Case in the Case factory, a Case factory release. Is there not a year stamped on it somewhere?

They did have special boxes for them, or tins.

Case got back the ownership of all of their "family" brands (with the exception of Cattaraugus, owned by AG Russell) some time after the year 2000.

So they have done various releases of Case Brothers, Platts, Standard, Crandall, etc.

I don't know much else as I don't keep up with modern Case knives.

I believe that was part of the Case “Family Brands” marketing initiative. Released directly by Case, not an SFO.

Hey, it happens, and by the way, with info from you both about the original boxes for these, I was able to match the knife to the correct and original box. When I acquired this batch of knives, all knives were separated from the boxes. I got about 400 plus boxes with a like number of knives. Great fun, guys. I sure love messing around with them.

For what its worth, the Case Brothers variation is my personal favorite of the Family Brands releases. They all came with the badge shield, and they were all packaged in a unique tin with a matching sleeve, and included a suede pouch. It has always seemed to me that the Case Brothers marked knives had deeper bone colors and nicer Stag. In fact, Case only offered their Mid Folding Hunter in Genuine Stag under the Case Brothers name. They limited those to 500 pices, and they often sell at a premium on the Bay.

One note: Case actually did also release knives under the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company banner. In fact, there is a premium Gunstock, CopperLock, and Yukon model with Tested Red Bone handles, made with ATS-34 blade steel, utilizing an Arrow shield, and packaged in a very unique arrow head shaped box. Those get real pricey.

One reason Case did not release as many knives under the Cattaraugus name in the FB series is, that Case had to pay AG Russell some sort of royalty to use the name. John Sullivan at Case told me that in about 2008.

In 2003 or 2004 Case Made Case Brothers Cheetahs with either ATS-34 or 154CM blades. The type of stainless is stamped on their tangs. Unfortunately I forget which stainless they had but it hardly matters because they are the same alloy from different sources. The Cheetahs had the same color and jigging as Paladin's Gunstock. Every time I see an '03 or '04 Case Brothers with that bone on evil bay I look at their tangs for the harder stainless stamp. I've only seen it on the one Cheetah. Were there other patterns with the harder stainless?

It is a very nice looking bone. I prefer shades of brown over Case's bright colors. Browns are more traditional on pocket knives.
