64052 “Congress” transition blades.

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

64052 “Congress” transition blades.

Post by SHC »

The two main blades are stamped of course. One is a ten dot the other is an eight dot. It’s used but was never abused. Looks like it has never been on anything but a razor strop to maintain its sharpness. Just interesting older knife. Maybe it went back to Case two years later and they put the eight dot blade in. Just a little oddity I found interesting. Don’t remember where I got it but somebody loved it and I can’t imagine anyone letting it go.

Case did not make any blades for 6488's or 64052's in 1971, as they evidently had enough 10 dot 70 blades left over. So a "transition" 1970 to 1972 64052 was made in 1972 using one of the ten dot blades that was leftover from 1970 but not used in 1971.

Hello and thanks for the welcome to “AAPK”! I’m just processing and learning my way around the many forums and platforms. Very interesting and widespread range of topics to visit and much to be learned ,but I’m enjoying it. I’ll have many questions as I am quite the novice collector with a modest collection and I’ve been out of the “loop” for a long time. One thing I have noticed from the short time I’ve been reading some of the posts is that there are a lot of like minded people on here that share their values, morals and love of God and country. So, I can relate to and enjoy this association! SHC
