I picked up this knife at a local flea market. The markings are 5265 SAB and Case with XX underneath. I have found plenty of information on the internet about this model. The one question I have is the extra pin on the top center of the handle on each side. I have seen hundreds of photos but have yet to find one with similar pins. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Info for this knife
Hi and welcome to the forums!
I have owned hundreds of the same knife, never seen that extra pin. It appears to be post-factory. Not sure why someone would go to all that trouble, unless the handles were replaced.

I can see from the expanded view that the extra pin on each side has created a crack on the mark side and even worse, it looks like a chip trying to come loose on the pile side. Also, the different color of the bolster pin heads from the bolsters suggests a rehandle job and the pin stock used is not the same composition as the bolsters. On the other hand, I bet it was a great flea market find!
