Only the larger one - 2138 L SS, made from 1970 to 1985.
I'm surprised that they never decided to offer the small sodbuster with the liner lock.

They bring some good money when you sell them. Don’t make the mistake I made of offering them too low. They sell quickly and better than non linerlock sodbusters.

Yep!
Too easy to do and it would give them a totally new line of knives

On the other hand, the full size liner lock must not have been selling well or Case would not have discontinued it. Expanding a product line that was not selling would have been a poor business decision.
So many companies have made knives similar to Sodbusters that it is likely that one or more of them made liner lock versions of the smaller size.

My guess is that Case dropped it because the old style brass liner lock was not really a state of the art locking mechanism by the mid 80's.Modern Slip Joints wrote:On the other hand, the full size liner lock must not have been selling well or Case would not have discontinued it. Bear & Son, I believe, makes both large and small sodbuster style knives with a true backspring lock.

Liner locks are pretty simple. By the time Case discontinued their liner lock Sodbuster they had been in use for at least a century. The goal of Sodbuster construction is to offer the least expensive knife. Adding a frivolous lock works against that goal.knifeaholic wrote: [...] My guess is that Case dropped it because the old style brass liner lock was not really a state of the art locking mechanism by the mid 80's.
