David, I love those old lanterns. I have a near twin to the blue one,edge213 wrote:Dietz Fire King fire lantern. From early 1900s.
Next to it is a Dietz RR lantern for size comparison.
except mine has a clear globe. It still gets used on occasion ...
Somewhere I have my father's Coleman lantern, the old school type that uses cotton mantels.
I remember night fishing by its light when I was a pup ....

We used kerosene lanterns sometime when camping when I was a kid. Dad always said you had to strike a match every so often to see if the lantern was still lit.edge213 wrote:Dietz Fire King fire lantern. From early 1900s.

Picked this lantern up, when we were stationed at Ramstein, Germany. We used to go over to Metz, France about once a month, to an antiques flea market, there. It is marked A Butin, Paris, on the back. It has a polished reflector, that resides behind the flame. From what I can find...it was likely a railroad lantern.

All the flower pictures a beautiful!
Quick Steel, I noticed something in three of your pictures, somebody has been pullin' weeds. My wife pulls the weeds and tosses them out on the grass to dry out and then me and the mower make small pieces of them during the next mowing.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
I came into the kitchen from outside for a drink of water and looked out the kitchen window and saw this. So out onto the back deck I went and took a pic. I see this all the time and rarely stop to just soak it in. Spoiled rotten goats, sassy hens, struttin’ roosters, and my barn. Another day in paradise.
