Ken, Beautiful pictures! The wild flowers have been especially beautiful in my part of Texas this year. We have tried having roses, iris's, and other flowers but the deer eat them as fast as they bloom. Here are some flowers not yet eaten.

Good looking dog, Ken. Do you use him in hunting? We had to give our last two dogs away (golden retrievers), when we went overseas, to Guam. It was like giving away your kids. I vowed to not have another dog till I wasn't moving any more. I've been debating getting another golden retriever...or a golden lab...I really would like to have a buddy for dove hunting.

Not a hunter. He’s an Akbash Dog, a livestock guard dog breed. His name is ”Big Dog”. He lives outside and he’s on duty 24/7, and constantly patrolling at night. During the day he lays under a tree a lot but he’s not usually asleep. I frankly don’t know when he sleeps. ::shrug::

My hunting dogs are labs. If I take them for a swim, Big Dog won’t go in the water with them - he runs along the bank and barks while they’re swimming. Here’s a picture of Big Dog with my 70 lb Labrador Retriever. It will give you some perspective on size. The Lab's color is "fox red" which may be what you're calling a "golden lab".

Bits of color. The predominant yellow color in the last photo did not show up well on this overcast day.

Beautiful pictures BH! Those deep blue/purple iris look like the same variety we have. I’d like to find some of those gold ones.

Ken, It looks like Big Dog would be capable of repelling many things. :) We have a feral hog problem in this part of Texas. I removed my turf grass because they kept rooting it up.

Bighomer and Quicksteel, thanks for sharing the beautiful spring flower pictures from your part of the country.

What a fine looking dog MP, big and dedicated make a good combination. Glad you have one to take care of the property while you're asleep. I doubt there is anything in Texas he would be afraid of. ::tu:: ::tu::
