Which pattern has consistently the best SNAP in your experience
Which pattern has consistently the best SNAP in your experience
First off, we all know (or in my case, have read) that the tested era Case's are known for their epic snap ... so I was thinking lets keep this discussion to post 1970 patterns that are more readily available and cheaper. Let's also keep it to ONE pattern - try your best to narrow it down to that one Case pattern that in your experience consistently displays above average or excellent snap ON ALL BLADES. I'll start ...
MUSKRAT
I've had close to 20 post '90 rats and with only one exception, all of them had WAY above average spring tension that results in excellent snap. I've never experienced this degree of really good consistent snap with any other late model Case pattern. I'm guessing it must have to do with the serpentine frame and the way the springs inherently flex. Lets have your experiences ...

I’ve never seen a 47 or 047 that didn’t have great snap. Probably not coincidentally, the Muskrat is made on that same 47 frame, so you may be on to something.

The 31 pattern but I'm not sure when it was discontinued.

Just carried a 11031 from 1971 the other day. It probably has the most snap of my knife collection.

My experience is mainly with the 6332, however I do have two 6232's and both of them have excellent snap as well. Maybe it's just luck that all these have excellent snap but so far I haven't been disappointed. Now keep in mind that they are all 70's knives so that might have something to do with it.Lansky1 wrote:which do you like ... 6232 or 6332 ?
As a general rule, the only Case I look for are 1970's with a few "XX" & "USA" era, and all are used. Some extensively.

Speaking of post 70s patterns is not my area of collection but I have a few. All the big Jack patterns mentioned here on this thread (fond of alot of the previous posters picks) can usually be counted on for very audible and great opening/ closing snap, even half stop where applicable.
Since limited to just one pattern, I would pick the 65 Hunter. My "do everything" EDC. Pocket carry. Too each his own but they are doable without a sheath for me as I never really worried about comfort for pocket carry. Not uncomfortable to me. I have about 20 EDCs and three are 65 Hunters. With disclaimer these are all older than timeframe you stipulated.
Buy a usable oldie like a XX era (or pre 1980') and there is a world of difference compared to newer releases.
Most also have carbon blades which I am a huge fan of.

I have always thought the 33 pattern had the most snap as a pattern
