CASE XX U.S.A. 65-69 Display with Knives

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

::woot::

I'm just drooling over the whole thing.

Best value: Selling individually - including case - brings the most moolah over time.

Best efficiency: Sell it all at once and basically name your price to get it out the door fast.

Best idea: Give it to a fellow AAPKer who'll be glad to exhibit it. ::groove:: :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Seriously, though I'm not sure I could be convinced to part with that rig. ::paranoid::

I agree with Tony. If the objective is to max out profit, break it up. That will require a lot of work though, to sell each piece individually. If the objective is to move it quickly, sell it intact and price it to move.

Hard to read but looks like the tag says $999. Just buy it fleas and add it to your collection, you can't go wrong. Or PM me with your friend's info and I'll buy it.

What do y'all think a whole display like this would be worth?

Fleas that's a great display. 35 knives and 5 other pieces. About 15 of those look like delrin handles. To the right person I think $2500 would be a fair price, but you would need to find that person. That era may not click with some collectors but there are many that collect those exclusively. A complete display like that would really tickle their fancy. ::nod::

I realize I have no dog in this fight, but I sure hate to see displays like this broken up.

Agree 100%. Sometimes it is not only differences in profit to consider.

Nice display!!! To me it looks like mid 70's vintage, with all of those delrin handled patterns. You can see the fading on the delrin.

Is there any paperwork with it? Anything written on the back of the board?

My opinion is that since the delrin handled knives if sold individually would not bring high $$, it would be smarter to at least try selling it as is and all intact. Some collector may value it intact as a display item.

Looks like some seriously faded handles in that case. Delrin knives mostly I'm thinking.
