I think these Cattaraugus whittlers are pretty good knives.

Shouldn't those small blades be different? ( or is that why the knife is outstanding )

I don't know how the small blades would be different. Different in what way?

I mean different from each other. The whittlers I'm familiar with always had a pen and a caping blade opposite the wharnecliffe.
But my research only mentioned "two small blades". The caping blade is for the fine precision whittling but two pens can work just as well I suppose.

I took a quick spin through some of my pictures and found several different options.

Joe, there ain’t a one of those I’d kick out of the knife roll, but that old Western States! Man it’s a nice ‘un.

And here I was thinking that the seahorse whittler was the gold standard of whittlers! The legendary #72 doesn't even have both small blades at the same end.

My "picks" for the "Outstanding Ones" knives, change from time to time. My current Picks are the Case Cheetah, and it's smaller version, the Cheetah Cub. My reasons for picking these knives for "Outstanding Ones", are their outstanding looks, feel, and the safety feature of their folding hilts. - Here is a picture of a pair of Cheetah knives, in my favorite scale material. - Thanks for letting me share them with you.
