Case 1920-1940 scout

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Pictures would help. What is the closed length of the knife? Measure as well as you can.

And welcome to AAPK!

It sounds like you have a Case Scout/Utility knife from the Case Tested era, pattern 6445R. A great knife built like a tank.

Hi crockett, and ::welcome:: to AAPK! We like pics. Jerry D. has compiled a list of instructions on how to post pictures to AAPK in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=98&t=50258

Looking forward to seeing that sweet Case scout knife! ::tu::

I agree some pictures would definitely help but aside from that, I'm not sure what it is you're asking. From your description I'm guessing your knife looks like this:

Can you be more specific regarding what you're wanting to know about it? ::shrug::

The "Tested" tang stamp puts it between 1920-1940 as you mentioned in your thread title.

As for value, that would come down to condition, quality of bone, quality of coloration, and (in the end) how much someone is willing to pay for that particular knife. The photos would definitely help narrow it down some, but ultimately it's hard to put a firm price on any collectible, much less an old knife. I'd guess you're looking at least around a couple hundred for one in such pristine condition as Ken's fantastic greenbone example (and I may be unwittingly low-balling it here, to boot).

Sorry but it's not my knife. I wish it was mine but it belongs to another member here. I just borrowed the picture from another thread in an attempt to confirm what the OP by Crocket was referring to.

Without any pictures of the knife in question it's impossible to estimate a value. Condition is everything!
