If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Unfortunately, I have almost no information. My wife's grandmother died 15 years ago. I just heard from her that he called his vehicles "Pikes". I do not know if it is named so the fish or the German aircraft Junkers Ju 87, which in Bulgaria and the Soviet Union called Pike.

Since liberation from the Ottoman Empire in 1878 until the end of World War II, Bulgaria has 7 wars trying to unite territories with a Bulgarian population. We win all the battles and losing wars, because none of the great powers did not want the Balkans have a big country. Wrong political decisions and twice were allies of Germany. Reparations payouts are billions. We were very, very poor country.

Probably goes back much farther that - after all, according to the Greeks, King Haemus made the mistake of making Zeus mad...

I must admit to being a typical American - I know almost nothing about your part of the world. All I know is from watching a lot of big weight lifters and track & field athletes in the Olympics. I have learned more about Bulgaria from you in the last year than I did in 17 years of school... :D

My Dad worked as the electrician at a relatively large steel fabricating company here in town. He had one helper. I never understood how the two of them ever accomplished everything required of them. I put myself through two years of college working there.

This bacon and ham press stays on my kitchen cabinet and I use it frequently, but not so much as I did before we started microwaving our bacon.

Dad made this. It’s stainless steel and the handle, which never gets hot, is from an arch welding system.

I wouldn’t take anything for this.

bighomer, that's a great picture, very common across the Florida Panhandle at this time, however I noticed something a bit different. The storm drain cover in the lower left front is something we don't see, at least not in the cotton patch. I suppose that field must be close to town or some development that has underground storm drains rather than open water ways/ditches. ::shrug::

Actually Farmer it's just close to the highway and evidently it doesn't drain well in that area. ::shrug:: Quite a lot of cotton is grown in west Tn. but not so much in my area.

I have a 35mm color photo print here somewhere that I took years ago.

There was a multi-screen movie complex near our home that had a huge elevated neon sign that read, CINEMA CITY in bright red and blue colors.

I drove home from work one night, well into dark-thirty and noticed that part of the sign was not lit.

When I got home, I grabbed my Pentax camera and drove back and took the picture.

There in vivid three foot letters was an advertising sign for INEMA CITY.

Several years back the Little Wabash River got out of banks and flooded areas of Carmi Illinois. The First Christian Church changed the sign out front.

Saw this at an antique store in Abilene, Tx. They said it's an authentic Wells Fargo stage coach strong box. It's heavy! That scroll attached on top is supposedly an authentication and appraisal from some expert. ::shrug::

That’s very cool Ken!!! Well if you buy it for transporting your knives then you need a blunderbuss as well :D ... I saw this for sale at a local shop last year - supposedly either a stage coach gun for the rider upfront though it may be from an old ship  ... I’m sure you already have a stage coach  ... ::handshake:: ...

I think that is definitely from a ship. The swivel mount is made to be placed on the gunwale of the ship.

Yes TFL - it was said to be a stage coach gun but as I noted I also thought from an old ship - anyway pretty cool old gun or small cannon .. I have seen a hand held blunderbuss - still quite a cannon but not as heavy as this one...

Joe - I’ve also seen punt guns - those no doubt were attached to the duck hunting boats - as you said long, huge and heavy barrels - almost impossible to pick up and hold to shoot given the size - I tried :D - they could take down literally 50 or more ducks at one time - believe they became illegal at least for hunting - if one indeed calls that hunting  ..

They were asking $14,000 for that strong box (the attached "appraisal" said that's what it was worth). ::woot:: So you'd need a blunderbuss with it whether you're transporting knives or not. Believe me at that price I wasn't at all tempted to buy it! And I haven't priced one lately but that may be more than a stagecoach costs. ::hmm::

If you spend all your money on a strongbox, then you would have no need of a strongbox.
