Looks like you made a good "fuzz-stick" (fire starter) like I taught scouts to make. Looks like cedar too, so it'll smell good when you get it started.

And it probably won't get burned Floyd as I am making a fork/spoon salad set for my great nephew and his bride to be. She
has seen some of my previous work and asked how much for a set? Uhhhh, let me see, I'll get back with you!
It'll be no charge of course!

I plan to use the curls/shavings as box filler when I present them for the wedding.

Steve in Germany and Switzerland they used to have Schutzenfest in about every community, province and on a national level. (some places still do) Basically a Shooting Fair. The climax was the championship round. One shot at a prescribed distance at the hand painted target. The one closest to the kill shot declared the winner. Mine is from 1935 with the name of each shooter written beside his shot. Switzerland still has them and even puts out a special coin each year. Mine is not a painted target but a printed target. Thanks for asking.

They are fun to watch. As I said, some of the shots that are made are amazing. I was going to try to compete but never got the chance, Uncle Sam had things for me to do and then relocated me. If you're a shooter who is into MOA accuracy, you will love it. If you ever get a chance you should go. Hell, I should go again, there was a lot of beer involved back then....I could sharpen my recollection.....or get schnockered again!

Sad news indeed. Collectors and fans of fine American made knives around the world have lost a friend and mentor. Life is fragile and short, cherish it. God bless and keep him.
