Vintage Hen & Rooster 1975-1980/SOLD

Post by XX Case XX »

For your consideration is a Hen & Rooster 225 Half-Stockman. Appx. 4" Closed. Coral Rucarta Handles. Good snap both ways. No wobble. Very minor blade rubs. Clean inside & out.

This knife was made at the original Bertram Factory while still owned by AG Russell.

I do not have a set price for this knife, however, I will consider any fair & reasonable offers.

Ships to US only and to a verified Pay-Pal address on file. Buyer must be at least 18 years of age.

PM if interested. Thanks for looking. ::nod::

I like the knife, but I have no idea what ball park a reasonable offer price would even be. I've never owned a hen & rooster knife, and the prices seem to be all over the place online.

Very well made, well finished knife. In it's time, 1970's, it was one of the best folding knives made. Most USA knife collectors collect USA made knives. Those who do collect Hen & Rooster mostly want the ones with stag. It takes a knife collector of some experience to be able to appreciate and really enjoy this knife.
I have a similar H&R so i am not buying this one.
Do you think i should keep my opinion of fair price to myself ? I'm only asking because of post saying does not know what the knife might be worth.

Jake: I certainly understand what you're saying because it's true. I'll give some ideas. I received written confirmation from the staff at AG Russell that this is a rare knife, one that Mr.Russell not only designed but made at the original Bertram factory.

They estimated it's value in it's current condition to be between $225 to $250. Keep in mind that is their estimate and may not reflect current market conditions. I already know I won't get anywhere near that. These are very well made knives but not as popular around here as they might be overseas. If I was able to reach that audience I could get a very good price for it but I can't.

That is the reason I am willing to accept the fact that it's not a well known brand and therefore I won't be getting the price for it I'd like to. But also keep in mind that things that aren't popular now can always come back and be popular again in the future. If I received anywhere near $100 I'd be very happy. I'd be taking a loss but I'd be happy.
