The tang stamp indicates it was made between 1965 and 1969. Pattern # 61048 slim trapper or farmers knife as some would call it.

Thanks, I was thinking older from how worn down it was. Someone really loved this one.

Knives from that era referred to as the USA era and knives from the dot era 1970-79 are very solid knives and make fantastic EDC's in my opinion. Here are two of my favorite carries a 63047 and a 62055. Both ten dots from 1970.

Nice survivors fellas, the "worm groove" on that toenail looks great! Love that the bone is in such good shape, but the blades are so far down...

Re: your oldest most well loved and worn casexx
I've shown this one several times, it was the 1st Case I remember buying probably in 1959 or '60. I carried all through high school and was advised to leave my knife at home by the Marine recruiter when I headed for Parris Island in 1964. I didn't see the knife for many years. My dear old dad had assumed ownership and wore the little 61048 down to a needle!
Several years ago one of the fine mechanics here on AAPK put a new blade in it for me. I carry it on occasion. There are several other knives that I inherited from my dad that have similar blades. He's been gone since 1979.

I always am amazed how hard some HOK’s were used - I’d love to hear the story about how your dad used your knife that wore the blade down “to a needle” ... the story is the best part

pffffft that's not a knife ......... now THAT'S a knife !! Crocodile Dundee

Well, each of the categories in the topic title refer to different knives for me.
My oldest Case:
Most well-loved Case:
My most-worn Case is another red bone Barlow from the '70s, a grandaddy 6143 that's seen better days. I only have photos of the damage, none of the whole knife. If you could see it, you'd know why.
