way to more pin point the year of a XX ?
i believe XX is roughly 1940-64, is there ways to tell for example on a 6318 pattern stockman a little more close to the exact or with in a few years the year it was made ? mabe bone color, flesh only stamp , or something ?? thanks.....

Not really
If you know that one had a FFO stamp for one year and not another you could but pretty hard to nail it down,

Well you can pin point on some patterns
-discontinued on X year
-handle material discontinued
Greenbone, rough black, Rogers were all discontinued by 1960 (look further for exact year)
-shield.. if it has a USA style shield it would like be late 1960’s
If it has a tested shield it’s likely early 1940’s
-pulls (longpulls were often early xx era)

Straight XX with no pattern # would normally narrow it down to the 1940’s.
