CASE TESTED 3165 Flat blade (Thin Hunter)
Can anyone tell me why this knife would book for the same value as a CASE TESTED 5165 Flat blade. Not sure if the 5165 is a thin model or not though.
Steve, would you be so kind as to look in the old catlogs on this one? maybe it was not produced for many years. Thanks!
Jerry

Re: CASE TESTED 3165 Flat blade (Thin Hunter)
The 3165 (not shown whether SAB or flat) was listed in the 1934 price list (the oldest one I have). It is not shown in the later Tested "blue cover" catalog. However, it is shown in the 1940 price list (the next one that I have). It is shown as the 3165 SAB though. It is also shown as being discontinued in that price list. Case did not make the 3165 in the XX stamp.
I have never seen a Case catalog or price list that shows any of the 65 patterns with both flat and SAB blades. All show only the SAB versions but we know that the flat blade versions were made even in the XX era, so its a mystery.

Beautiful knife Jerry. I have never seen a thin frame one blade 65 pattern with anything other than a flat blade.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Thanks my friend. She is a sweet old girl.
I don't carry this one but have several hunters I carry and really prefer the flat blade personally. Hunters are just so all purpose for my needs.
