Case XX USA 62109x ORVIS with Mixed Jigging
Case XX USA 62109x ORVIS with Mixed Jigging
Recently bought this knife and the jigging on the mark side is horizontal while the jigging on the pile side is vertical. Was this intentional by CASE when it was made in 2013 or a factory error?

I don't know the answer to your question but it looks to me more like two different kinds of jigging.
On top of that, vertical jigging like is on the pile side, is rather unusual.
Edit: It is, however, an SFO so all bets are off when it comes to the customer's desire.

I have a current production carmel sawcut bone Cheetah with the same. Saw cuts are vertical on one side and horizontal on other. I just don't think Case takes the time to make sure they match.

If someone can show an Orvis 62109x with *matching* sides, then we can say Case doesn't care. Otherwise, since in this thread we have two examples of this configuration, I think the prudent assumption is that it is supposed to be this way.

This gets more interesting. The same seller has just listed another Case Orvis Old Red 60109x, only this one has the opposite configuration - vertical sawcut jigging on the mark side and horizontal sawcut jigging on the pile side. This now looks like it was intended by Case, maybe at the customer's request. Anyone else out there with one of these SFO's?
