How many of these were made?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

How many of these were made?

Post by donjr »

Just was wondering how many of these 1978 Case Appaloosa Peanuts (A6220) were made. Mine is numbered 1783. Also, I found a picture of the 1978 Case Appaloosa Peanut in Knifeaholic's New Book on Page 125 and it says "Serial Numbered". Steve or anyone else out there that knows the amount made, Please Help!! Thanks in advance!! donjr

I have #0584. I have no idea what the "mintage" is on the A6220. Here's one that's stamped 12,314...

Dang! I would have guessed maybe 3,000. Boy, was I way off!

With that many made, why even bother with a serial number? ::shrug::

I'd have to agree. That's an awfully large group. Even their "Limited Editions" number to 3,000 so 12K+ is a huge number.

Peanut with smooth grey appaloosa handles without shield. Regular serial number on right front bolster, there is a long tailed C "Case xx _ APPALOOSA on master blade. Came in an individual plastic box inside an orange pumpkin box.

Seems like a play on words, for lack of a better description. Technically, it is limited. To 15,000 pieces.

For some reason this reminds me of those car dealership commercials that state: "All Credit Applications Will Be Accepted". Sure, they'll accept your application. Doesn't mean they'll approve it.
