Case Tested XX

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Hi Y'all
Hope everyone is doing well today, I have a question that I was pretty sure my friends here could get answered for me.
So here it is, I picked up this Case Tested XX knife the other day, I can't find the pattern # anywhere, was hoping someone could help me out, and tell me if $35 was a good price I paid for it, as far as its condition and style. I like it, so $35 was a great price as far as owning it now, I just wondered if it is the going price for this knife. I added a few photos. The #'s are gone if they were ever there, The stamp is still pretty prominent. The stamp is the 'C' with long, straight tail, under all capital 'ASE' . The TESTED XX is underneath in all capitals. That should make it a 1920 - 40 knife. The scales are great, No hairlines or chips, blades snap crisply open and closed with no wobble. Blades are probably at about 80-85% material still there. So that's what I have. Thanks, guys, I appreciate any help you can offer.
p.s. sorry about the picture quality. I need a better camera, steadier hands wouldn't hurt, either

Given the poor quality of the pictures it's difficult to say for sure but my guess is you have a 92058. If so, from your description of the knife's condition you got it for a reasonable price. The "gentleman's knife" or most others with celluloid handles (sometimes referred to by collectors as "Mother of toilet seat" ) don't usually bring big money. The key thing is your statement that you're happy with it. That's really all that matters ::tu::

For comparison here's a 92058 from an older post on AAPK.

If you can't judge from the referenced picture compared to your knife, a better confirmation will require better pictures of your knife. Pocket knife measurements are made with blades closed, measuring the length of the knife's body from end to end. Close your knife and measure it, then tell us what length you get.

Thanks a bunch mumblelypeg, that's a big help. "Mother of toilet seat  , That is funny. First time I've heard that one.
I had the measurement but forgot to add it in. It's 3 5/16" when closed.

That pretty much settles it that your knife is a 92058.

Hey Ken,

That knife and picture looks familiar. You nailed it. Those birds eye pins are just plain cool in my opinion.
Great pickup in my opinion at a great price.

 It should Jerry. I "borrowed" it from one of your old posts! Yours is the only other one I recall seeing. ::tu::
