Trapper ??

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Taken from "WR Case Knife Patterns 00-15" in the Research section. I would call it a Jack Knife.

"The most recent 07 pattern is a 3 1/2″ jack knife that is often called a mini trapper. Most have two blades. The master blade on them is normally a clip blade, and the other will generally be a pen or spay. The spay blade is most common on Cases more recent 07 knives. Most of the older knives (Pre-1980) will have a pen blade."

It's a dog leg jack. According to Steve Pfeiffer's book they stopped making this "older" version in 1997 and started using this number for Trappers.___Dave

Since the tang stamp on the OP knife indicates '65-'69 ................ "Most of the older knives (Pre-1980) will have a pen blade."

Pretty sure there are two dots under the USA Jerry, making it a 1978

Well it is obviously a serpentine dog leg jack that they call a mini trapper. ::nod::

Thanks for the info . One more question. This knife was from a display for a number of years, as a result , it has not been open or closed much and it is stiff to do so- anything I can do to loosen it up, besides opening and closing it a lot?
Thanks

Don't even open it until you get a small drop of good oil on the point where the blades rub on the back spring. You will ruin the blades spring action opening and closing them dry. ___Dave

1979 was the year that they stopped making the pen blade version and switched to the 6207 SP SSP "Mini Trapper".
