Yes, that's a horse collar & the red wooden devices are the "hames". The "traces" (chains for pulling) attach to the hames on the horse end and the single-tree for a one horse harness or half of a double-tree attached to the load for a two horse team set-up.

not sure how the connecting rods are affixed in the end cylinders... but it is cool! Would love one in my man-cave. Industrial art.

By the way, I owned one of these motors in my Vette but with the NPP exhaust, it was rated at 436hp. Loved it!

Next time I see the owner, a lady, I'll try to clarify on the levers and the age. She belongs to a family with a long tradition of racing cars/cattle/and horses. I may have mixed up the age of the truck with the following custom.

A couple of more. The race car is a photo of an oil painting. It was this years champion which the family campaigned in a series of races (don't recall the name); the family patriarch explained it was like a kindergarten for NASCAR.

A grandfather once tried to run the complete Le Mans course without a relief driver. After about 23 hours he was taken out of the car because he didn't know where he was. By the way the horses are not for racing. One of the daughters has run a a very successful equine therapy operation.

The Toggle switch would have been for a snow plow motor and the raise and angle cables would have been for the plow. I had a '68 and this truck would have been in that neighborhood at least, surely is not a '50.

The Ford looks like a 1950 model.
Back in 1960 I was learning my trade; it took me two days to remove the heads and reface the valves.
The Old Gost engines, took months to rebild.
This was the last engine I rebuilt.. Ken.

1950 is about it. Most 1950 Fords did not have those parking lights.
This photo shows those parking lights.
If it was a Rolls-Royce, it would not be hard to find the original invoice.

Two of my fathers. 1940 Oldsmobile Moneys Worth. 1941 is a metal wallet size plaque. probably never see another one of the sales leaders club award.
My mother had an album full of G.M. and Ford awards and news paper clippings but do not know what happened to it so long ago.
