The blue flower you posted is called a Hydrangea. Old folks used to call 'em a "back porch bush" or a "dishwater bush". They were often planted by the back porch where the dish pan was emptied, thus the "dishwater bush" name. They are sensitive to soil ph, acid soil, the flowers are blue add lime and the ph rises, the bush will then grow pink or red flowers. We have several scattered around the place and they are all blue as yours is. They freeze back every year and continue to emerge each spring.

I was not aware one could change their color by manipulating the soil pH.

That orchid is beautiful.

Well I had the H right anyway but I don't believe that is a quince tree. Ihad those in my yard when I was a boy and when these fall they are like a mini pear but very hard almost woody.

The John Deere cutter in the picture has 7 gear-driven rotary cutter disks. Each disk has two replaceable cutter knives that run at near 200 mph tip speed. After it cuts the grass it "conditions" it and spits it out the back in windrows. Basically does in one operation what previously took two tractors running separate pieces of equipment to do.

I really like John Deere equipment but mostly I like the local JD dealership. IMHO the dealer and how he takes care of customers is the difference maker. American made is a big factor also.

BTW I have an old Long flail mower. Haven't used it in years. If you're interested I'd let you have it real cheap!

Charlie that's just a nickname the English pubs used for them. They are actually made from tightly bound sisal fibers from the Century plant. A species in the Agave genus.

Reminds me of the old Jerry Clower story about his cousin Marcel Ledbetter.

Seems Marcel was walking home one day and came upon a farmer selling watermelons from the back of his truck. The farmer had a truck filled with melons and a huge 40 lb watermelon sitting on the ground under the tailgate. Marcel asked him "How much is that great ole big one down there? I'd sure like to eat that one!"

The man replied "Ten dollars, but I'll make you a deal. If you can eat it all in one sitting I'll give it to you free." Marcel said "If you can wait a while I'll come back and tell you whether I'll accept your offer." The man said okay, and Marcel took off running down the road.

About 30 minutes later Marcel returned, all out of breath from running. He said "mister, I accept your offer". Then Marcel sat down and proceeded to eat every bite of the melon. The farmer was amazed. He said "Son that beats anything I've ever seen, but tell me, where did you run off to?"

Marcel replied "Well sir, I don't have ten dollars, but we had a melon about that same size under the back porch at home, and I knew if'n I could eat that one, I could eat this one!"

I always knew an English Shepherd dog could do most anything.

Here's Blue (10 months old) up under the house helping me fix a plumbing leak. She even picked up the box and a bag I laid down and carried them out and laid them by the trash. Lol

All I see here are seedless. I get one once in a while.
