Case Rogers Bone

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Wayne, Larry, Tom, your collections are fantastic. I am just eating this up. For being just a few posts, this thread has some STUNNING knives. Keep up the great work all.

Dave, That sure looks like Rogers Bone to me and some really pretty Rogers at that. Yes, Elvis is the best at fixing those old knives. ::tu::

Here is one that you don't see everyday. A 6199 W R Case & Sons in Sawcut Rogers. This is the only one of these patterns and the only Sawcut Rogers I have ever seen. I took a few extra pictures to show the Sawcuts.

Wayne, those are really nice, unusual patterns as well. What are the pattern numbers for these two.? I see the number on one of them but can't make it out.

I picked up a Case knife yesterday at a flea market for $20. (Canadian) and have been doing a bit of research.
And that's how I found this website.

The knife is marked Case XX on one side of the tang and 6265SAB on the other side. Main blade is a saber and the other blade is a semi-serrated skinner (what I now see some people call a "Bill Boatman" blade). It has what you term "Rogers Bone" handles. Is this the same as "Red Bone"?

It is in excellent condition. The main blade has been (carefully) sharpened but aside from that it really doesn't look like it was used much.

That's standard Case jigged bone, not Rogers.I personally wouldn't call it red bone either.More like they would call pretty bone.Very good buy for less then $20 US.

Thank you very much for the information. There seem to be a lot of different names for jigged bone.

Thanks Treefarmer & Roger,The store is about 2 miles from my house Roger,It was the first time I looked there. The master blade is not as bowed along the edge as it appears. If you enlarge the photo, you can see a difference in the bevel from sharpening about 1/2 inch up from choil,it looks curved. Nice pickup Bill!

What a great old beauty that is. Pretty color on that bone.
