I was afraid you would ask. Well levering was a forerunner of Simmons or at least was involved with it. Levering bought SIMMONS Levine has something on it on his list #407 you can google it however I cannot bring it up since I no longer want to be or am a member of BF . I have always felt ( which is why I bought this knife many years ago that there might ( I do not know at this point ) have been a releationship between Lever and Levering A1. Now it gets more confusing since the reason I wanted to know is is because Napanoch made a lever knife ( similar to a wiltzen patent ) the exact same knife was sold by LEVER. So I was trying to figure out if Nap might have been a supplier for levering and how it all tied together it seems reasonable because early on Pre Walden, Nap supplied Simmons so it being sold in NY and all the other hints seem to point that way but, I have not actually proven it. The real question here is why would anyone in the world give a s... about this historic minutia this should show just how mundane and unimportant my life has become. Oh well it keeps me from worrying about anything important. You have to admit though I have a way of rambling so much about so little that I can make almost anyone sorry they asked. LT

LT, you do know how to turn a phrase!
Since we do care about this historic minutia, I guess our lives are as mundane and unimportant as yours! What a pathetic bunch we are!
Maybe history really is important (like my 4th grade teacher said), & we are leaving a legacy to future generations.
Can you imagine the historical gold mine someone will find in 150 years when they look at the archives of AAPK?
What you are doing LT, what we are all doing, is leaving history to our children & grandchildren. I think that is important!
Just my 2¢,
Dale

I for one am glad I asked, LT! Keep rambling!
As for your vanishing pictures, I think notifying a monitor is in order! It is possible that "hosted" pics can be interrupted (i.e: photobucket) by losing them at the host site (deleting?) but here, I'm not so sure. Someone smarter than me needs to comment!!

LT,
I have no idea as to why your pics are vanishing.
That is a good question for Bryan.

I realize that Dale, I was just funning in fact that was what i was doing when I wrote about minutia I certainly was not calling anyone pathetic or mundane nor did I wish to offend, I simply did not want to write a long dissertation on something very small and that I did not think anyone really cared about. It was more of an apology for taking up so much time for what should be a simple question. I contacted Phil because his email happened to be readily available I am not sure how to contact Bryan. In fact I have been wanting to contact him about a knife I have in mind for him but frankly as interested as I am in past knife minutia that is in reverse to how bad I am with computers. My reflections are upon myself no one else. Apparently I do care a bit about history perhapes not for the reasons you mention considering my family situation, however quite deeply for my own reasons. I just did not want to interject a long answer with out a bit of levity for those who find me ( rightly ) long winded. In fact tomorrow I have a meeting regarding the museum which now that my bill is a law has been approved and is moving along. Regarding Bryan I did what any not to great computer person would do to contact him . I shot off a flare in the back yard and so far no response from him. Only the local police . ( again that was meant as a joke ). LT

It is too bad we cannot all have a huge conference call.
Since you (LT) & I have talked at length on the phone on a regular basis, it is easier to pick up your humor. I know that you are joking, that is why I was joking back.
If we could all get on a huge conference call or even three or four of us at once, we could all pick out each other's sense of humor with greater ease. Besides I think it would be a fun conversation to be in on.
Alas & alack, I guess we will just all have to drive to LT’s house for a big party!
Charlie, I will meet you in Helena & we can carpool to LT’s party.
Can you imagine what a crazy party that would be?? A bunch of certifiable knife nuts all getting together in the home (and museum) of the biggest knife nut around? We would be trading knives & discussing knife minutia to the wee hours of the morning.
I had a similar experience at a RTDA (Retail Tobacco Dealers Assoc.) show in Chicago one year. About 5 pipe collectors (myself included) got together in the suite of a supplier and discussed minutia relating to the design of the "billiard" shape of pipe. We talked until about 4:30 AM about what makes a good billiard a great billiard. We dissected the design in extreme detail. We were not even drinking, though you might say we were drunk on pipe minutia. It was a glorious time.
I think we should get together at LT’s house and have the same sort of experience with knife minutia. We would have a great time, of that I am confident!
I wish it wasn’t so far back to NY.

LT,
Where are you looking to site the museum? If it's local and you need any help carpentry wise, let me know. A free pass on opening day is all I require as payment.
Eric
PS- Just read Dale's post-count me in! ( Nothing like a bunch of nut-jobs inviting themselves to a party that the host doesn't even know about!

Hey! If anybody is going through North Texas on the way, swing by and pick me up. I'll help drive, buy some gas, etc.
As for women, I think I can get Wonder Woman to come along. She's a BIG fan of yours and is dying to meet you. I showed her your picture in your switchblade book and she said something to the effect of, she would like to "drag you back into the woods and butter your grits", what ever that means.
I've never been up in that neck of the woods. Seems like Folks from up there think I talk "funny". Don't tell anybody but it ain't me, it's THEM.
I would like to take a tour up there, some day and go to all the towns, like Little Valley, Springville, Eldred, Kane,Tidioute and others that were part of the "one hundred mile magic circle".
OOPS! I'll shut up.

She is such an All American Girl, that you might consider sending a cab to Tejas.
JMO of course.

Hi Sweaty Bill..
Wonder Woman, as lovely as she used to be, is a little older now and since the end of her TV show, has kinda, well, let herself go, a little bit. Even though, she has a GREAT personality. Maybe YOU would like to meet her? Send me your phone number and I will give it to her. She doesn't care if you are married or single, just so long as you are breathing, and have some money.

Thank you for posing that unique opportunity to me CCBill. However, that looks a mite like "Wonda" Woman...you know, like "Wonda Wood" is to a fine Maple Burl or a nice PIECE of Ironwood...not Wonder Woman the sleek, well turned woman of my youth. Sooooooooo, I'm gonna take a BIG pass on the melting of our sweaty bodies (most especially hers
).
Thanks though. Oh, and I admire ANYBODY with the large, solid cojones necessary to keep that picture stored on his computer.
OK then, I'm gonna need some Crown to wipe that from my mindseye.
Hasta la vista.....baby.

Somewhere in your computer resides that image, whether you know it or not.
I think the only cure is to pour Crown Royal directly into your hard drive!

Now here is an idea! Swing by even farther North in Texas (the Panhandle), and pick me up. Continue on to Nashville and pick up Perry. Make sure Perry knows he also has to bring Faith. Much better than Wonder Woman!
I suspose we could invite Tim?
BUT ONLY IF HE LOVES KNIVES AS MUCH AS HE LOVES FAITH! Now is that a plan or what?
