Restoration of a Schrade Cut Co Jack

Here is a Schrade Cut Co jack I recently restored.

I even remembered before pics!

The old handles were celluloid that had shrunk & cracked at the pins. There was even a good sized piece missing from the pile side. Fortunately there was not a lot off gassing to cause a great deal of damage to the metal. It also looks like the blades were not used very much.

I took it apart and cleaned the inside.

Then I put some Goldenroot RJB bone on the handles.



I was pleased with the results. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

FYI- The markings on the blades of the finished knife are actually reflection of the trees in my backyard.
I caught a patch of blue sky between rain storms!

Thanks Kaleb, I thought about a shield, but decided against it since there was not a shield on the original.
I probably have an old Cut Co shield that would look right on it.

You are right Glenn, I think those are the among the fullest blades I have seen on an old Schrade Cut Co that had not been held in a private collection since it was made. I was really pleased to find it.

Thanks Mike, I am glad you noticed. I chose the bone because of the color and its similarity to Rogers bone.
What I didn't realize is that the jigging on the bone would leave me with light and dark checkering very similar to the original celluloid.
That was just a happy coincidence.
