Lunch Box Special

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Lunch Box Special

Ok I've heard of "lunch box special" and know what they are supposed to be but don't guess I would know one if I had it in my hand. Would some of you more knowledgeable folks like to share with us what would make this one? ::shrug::

There has been a 1999 Case 6254 Trapper with the same shield for sale at an antique and curio shop near here for the last couple of years. The guy wants about $75 for it (less a 15% discount). It is still there because I'm not much of a trapper guy. I believe that it isn't a one of a kind "lunchbox special" but rather one of the numerous and never ending small, "special runs" that Case produces. OH

Case did some knives, maybe for Shepherd Hills, that had pearl shields with the CASE XX logo. These were white pearl, not abalone though.

Didn't some of their "Pearl Premiers" have abalone shields? I seem to recall a Rosewood handled knife with one.
