For some reason I thought the Brazilian Bloodwood would be darker, but it's a nice color. The blank bowtie shield is very classy as well. Very good lookin' knife.

Perry, what happened to all the bails on that group of Beer Scouts in your bottom photo? Did you remove them for the photo or something?

Monk, what is the difference between a "Soda Scout" and a "Beer Scout"? They look identical to me (except for the shield).

That' is the difference,QT ___ Mike Latham (CK.NET), had these (SFO) made with the "Scout Shield" & different handle materials**

PS--I realize that the Ivories are Northwoods...but, since they're made by GEC, technically I felt they could be included in this thread.
Absolutely insane sweet ivories there Q. What a group, stunning, above and beyond the rest. Northwoods rocks. I don't have anything like ivory, but got one kind of like that TC.

GEC Tidioute #83 Lock Back just showed up. Pics don't do the bone justice. Deep color, mottled grays and dark grays, streaks, splotchy, just like I love. Like Appaloosa. Nice blade.

Ivoryman, Thanks a lot, now my wife is forcing me to buy her another knife, this hobby is real expensive when you are buying for 2. That is a real beauty.

A more sympathetic ear you will not find. I feel for you there my friend that hurts. Guess the up side is hopefully she will understand when you bring home another and another. Good luck, same to all in a similar predicament. Seems about like par for the knife addicted course.

Beautiful bone on that little 83, Ivoryman ... !
Quick question, how do you like that pattern in-hand?
I just ordered a Tortoise Shell* Acrylic one, and I'm hopin it warrants some pocket time ...

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Compared to something like the #72 this is way better carry size. Seems thinner, definitely much shorter and lighter. Still a pretty decent sized blade. Have not cut with it yet, but sure love the size in the pocket and hand. 3 3/8 long closed is almost perfect for me, and I love that not much blade is exposed when it's closed. I don't have big hands, medium, and this is the size of knife for my hand, full four fingers, plenty of room, handle shape fits the fingers and palm and doesn't feel like it will twist or slip. Basically to me it's a smaller #72, which is a smaller #42. 42 is a bit big for the pocket, 72 is doable, 83 is perfect size. IMHO.On Edge wrote:Beautiful bone on that little 83, Ivoryman ... !

Re: Mail Call, Post Your New GECs.
Excellent! My hands are probably what you'd call big, but not "meat hook" big ... I lean towards about that size for "in pocket" knives myself so really looking forward to this one ...Ivoryman wrote:Compared to something like the #72 this is way better carry size.
