For some reason I thought the Brazilian Bloodwood would be darker, but it's a nice color. The blank bowtie shield is very classy as well. Very good lookin' knife.

Perry, what happened to all the bails on that group of Beer Scouts in your bottom photo? Did you remove them for the photo or something?

Man Monk, those are Sweet!

I'm with you about this model being a Great Pattern. I have the Ivory Smooth Bone and I wish I could pick up some of the other wood and bone one's but at 100 Bucks a Pop, it's a stretch for me Budget Wise!

Monk, what is the difference between a "Soda Scout" and a "Beer Scout"? They look identical to me (except for the shield).

Had a great weekend at the Rendezvous and picked up 5 knives. A set of SFO Ancient Barlow's, a Rendezvous knife,only 30 made and a Beer Scout parts knife with a spear blade, 1 of 6.

Absolutely insane sweet ivories there Q. What a group, stunning, above and beyond the rest. Northwoods rocks. I don't have anything like ivory, but got one kind of like that TC.

GEC Tidioute #83 Lock Back just showed up. Pics don't do the bone justice. Deep color, mottled grays and dark grays, streaks, splotchy, just like I love. Like Appaloosa. Nice blade.

Compared to something like the #72 this is way better carry size. Seems thinner, definitely much shorter and lighter. Still a pretty decent sized blade. Have not cut with it yet, but sure love the size in the pocket and hand. 3 3/8 long closed is almost perfect for me, and I love that not much blade is exposed when it's closed. I don't have big hands, medium, and this is the size of knife for my hand, full four fingers, plenty of room, handle shape fits the fingers and palm and doesn't feel like it will twist or slip. Basically to me it's a smaller #72, which is a smaller #42. 42 is a bit big for the pocket, 72 is doable, 83 is perfect size. IMHO.

Excellent! My hands are probably what you'd call big, but not "meat hook" big ... I lean towards about that size for "in pocket" knives myself so really looking forward to this one ...
