Jerry, those are some beautiful tomato plants! The heat is about to get ours . If I remember correctly, the temperature needs to be somewhere around 70 in the evenings for the blooms to set. If it gets much above that the blooms won't set and the crop is about done for the year. Anyhow, when it's in the 90s during the day with hot sun 'maters are about done.
That big one in the 1st picture is beginning to turn, won't be long till you can butcher it and put it on some light bread with whatever that stuff is y'all use .

Philip those are some mighty fine looking jars of goodness you have there, I bet that is one tasty blend! Jerry those tomaters are looking pretty far along already, my plants are still tomato-less at the moment, getting plenty big and lush though.

Mike there's not much better from the garden than some fresh picked peas. They're great in a salad or just on their own. I bet you know dozens of ways to fix em.

Good to see those young folks taking part. They're making memories and most likely don't even know it.

Picked a few tomatoes and thinned out some carrots. Been a good year for bell peppers and tomatoes have been decent. Squash and cantaloupes are slow so far. The Wenger is a backup knife that I keep in my truck.

We've had alot of rain this week, my garden is officially jungled out! Cukes reaching in amongst the tomatoes, pumpkin vines wrapping on the sunflowers, tomatoes vines all tangled amongst themselves, carrot tops shading out the peppers, etc... ..been working too doggone much to stay ahead of it, just gotta let nature take its course I guess!...Anyways heres some more carrots I pulled this morning, freshly dug, and after a shower! ....come on now fellas, don't be shy, post up what you've got coming in! Inquiring minds want to know...and see!

Mike I've enjoyed every single post made on this thread. I wish I could contribute but after weeks of unrelenting rain that has allowed the weeds to consume my garden I just don't have much to contribute. It's not because of lack of interest, it's because of lack of produce.

Please don't quit posting. I'm living vicariously thru you right now brother.

I don't garden so I don't have any "harvest" knives but I always look in here.

Mike, were are about out of garden this time of the year. Hot weather has set in and only the pepper plants are surviving because we try to water them. Today is the 22nd of July, we've had 3 days where the high was below 90, 13 days of the 22 have been 95 or above.

We'll try and plant a pumpkin/cushaw patch around the 1st of August. The wild blue berries are still making as are the sand pears. The sand pears are so hard they are difficult to eat raw, the squirrels and deer don't seem to mind. We do make pear relish and canned pears from them, they are not quite mature at this time.

Did make another batch of pickled peppers today and we picked about 7 cups of blue berries Monday mornin'. A couple of pictures to keep the thread rollin' . There is a Case butcher knife on the counter . We don't know what variety this little red pepper is, but one thing for sure it has some heat in it .

Sorry to hear of your troubles with the weather Phil, some steady rain can be good as long as it is followed by a good spell of sunshine!
Phillip, that is crazy that you have had that much heat this summer...sounds downright miserable to me! But I suppose being a Florida boy you are used to it. That pepper plant kinda looks like a Tobacco style pepper...bet they are spicy.
So I made a sandwich out of one of the lemon cukes....wheat toast, mayo, salt and pepper, tasty! Not lemony at all, mild cucumber flavor with no bitterness and good crunch. Thumbs up.

what PHIL said = same here, MIKE ....... SEPT, we are in a drought, they got our water METERED here right now ....... plus Tiffy bein sick,she is the REAL green thumb round here.....
