What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

I have always liked the 4" Schrade knives. My EDU is the same old 881 I have been using since 1973.
My son has used and broken about 4 or 5 Schrade 8OT's, and is now using a Buck 301... KG.

Nice revere! Did it come with the box? Do you have the other 2 in the set?

This set is not as sexy as some of these knives in bone and such, but I like the subject material and the etches.

No box, don't have any of the others. You probably all ready know this but for a bit of history I'll tell you anyway glenbad. ::tu::
There is actually 8 different commemorative knives that I have found in the same years. And a Service Series set that I'm not sure what is in. Some of the others are ,Will Rogers,Jim Bowie, Buffalo Bill,Custers fight along with the other two you are talking about,The Minuteman and the Liberty Bell.
They also did some very nice commemorative folding hunters for Parker around the same time.

Here are a couple single-springs that are charming me. The bone-handled example has some wear, but the butter and molasses is as-new except for a coupla speckles. It was pretty dry but it responded well to a coupla drops of QUICK RELEASE.

Here is an odd one. It is shown in the 1926 catalog as 8583, but no trace of it in any Schrade Walden catalog, although SW certainly did make this one. The "U.S.A." in the tang stamp suggests that it was NOT made right after 1946. On the pile side of the master spear blade is tang-stamped 0302. Complete mystery there. There is the remnant of a faint etch ??ADY JR. on the spear blade. It is 3 3/8 inches long and still in tip top condition except for the patina/micropitting. I like it.

I've seen that one before in a Schrade Walden NY USA. I had one once upon a time. The one I had did not have anything stamped on the back tang of the master blade.

Cato listed the knife in his store, offered me a great deal and now its in my collection ::ds::

Thanks Greg!
