Question about Case CLASSIC Pattern
I purchased this knife a while back and didn't notice this until today. The handles are obviously synthetic yet the pattern # is 6223 Jumbo Trapper. I looked it up in volume 9 of the pocket knife trader's guide and the there is no mention of this knife. I'm not really sure of the Case material name. Anyone have any experience with this type of Case Classic knife???
Thanks!
Thanks!

Slowride66,
That purty thing obviously ain't a bone handled 223 Trapper, but do you suppose it might fit in the Celluloid Prototypes slot mentioned on page 256 of volume 9? There are several names that might fit your handles on the list, Caramel Swirl, Good Earth,
Just got either the wrong blade or the wrong handle
. It's "knice" what ever it is

Re: Question about Case CLASSIC Pattern
It's a beauty but I don't know much about Case Classics so can't help you. Try posting it over on the Case Classics collectors forum (located just below the Case collectors forum) and see if one of the good folks that frequent there can help explain it.
Good luck, Sorry I don't know more.

Re: Question about Case CLASSIC Pattern
I can tell you this, whatever handle material it is called, there were only 6 made. See last sentence though!
I am looking in "Long Haul" and I see all the canidates ( 3 or 4) that it might be, all had only six made. Is the tang a 1992' stamp? Great pics in the book but dark here/eyes tired so that is far as I can narrow at the moment.
Handle may be called "Western Sunset", "Mountain Rattler", "Quick Silver", "Butter and Molasses Chip" or "Taffy". Can't tell right now but proabably one of those.
Most of these had a COA in the box which stated what it was. How about the side of the box? Anything?
Low run, not proto though, I think! Although sorry, I could be all wet as the book says the model is 7223 and your knife is marked 6223 so there may be a book error or something fishy going on.
Oh yeah, and store that one seperate from other knives, looks like a potential or current "gasser"!!!!!

Re: Question about Case CLASSIC Pattern
My thought was good earth but that is only under 7223. I'm not sure about the Proto either, but I am now understanding that it may have just not been etched with "Prototype". I do own a Jumbo Rogers Bone Trapper that is a Prototype. That's a beauty too. I was hoping someone had seen this handle type before. Oh it is a 1990, not a 1992 if that helps.

Re: Question about Case CLASSIC Pattern
It might be cherry chip. I would say its a 1 of 6. Many or maybe all of those have the 6223 rather than the 7223 stamp. Is there any writing on the end of the box? It's definatly not good earth.

Re: Question about Case CLASSIC Pattern
I have never seen the good earth so that answers that. I did find a thread in the case classics forum stating many of the handmade bone prototypes had 6223 stamping, which helps. Never have seen another with that exact handle color. Box actually has G62075 with 7223 under in pencil. Seller did not give COA nor was one in the sellers description.
