New to the forum with a question
I'm not a knife collector but after picking up a Case Folding Hunter, I just may become one. I recently came into a Case Folding Hunter with cranberry jigged bone handles. It has never been sharpened and has never been used to cut anything. The item number on the box is 05423, the model number is 6265 SS, and the date code is X * X. It comes with the green box, sheath the tissue paper wrappers, and the product information pamphlet. Any information as to its value, or rarity of the color, would be appreciated.

Re: New to the forum with a question
The key to dating the Case Knives is in the tang stamp on the blade that hass the CASE XX.
The year is determined by that.

Then you can search ebay for completed listings to see what it's sold for!

Hey Dickens!
Welcome to AAPK
.
TripleF gave you the proper site to check your date on that fine lookin' Case. I believe it will definitely fall in the 2000-2009 era based on the tail of the "C" in the picture, also at least one dot has been removed, so that eliminates the year 2000.
knife7knut started a thread here on AAPK showing folding hunters earlier in the month, there are some beautiful knives being displayed!

Re: New to the forum with a question
Thanks guys. I appreciate the advice. An acquaintance of mine on another forum has a group of older Case knives that are all NIB. Is it proper on this forum to post a link to his thread and if so, where would be the proper place to post it?

In the 2000 to 2009 range. Hard to see the tang stamp with the dots. Judging the dots I can see I would say 2002 to 2004. The date should be on the box you have. Although, the tang date and box year do not always match. With the sheath,70.00 to 75.00 range.
Re: New to the forum with a question
I have a couple other knives from this series with the cranberry bone and silver script shield. Mine were from 2001-2002. I have the wharncliffe copperlock and Grandaddy Barlow....beautiful knives...
Re: New to the forum with a question
Would love to have a peek at em. If you can...please post a photo of your others...some of us really get a kick out of viewing "knife porn".

Welcome to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard.
It's 2010 or 2011. Check against this chart.
Note the difference of the dot position on the 200x chart.

Re: New to the forum with a question
Well, Phil took me to task and I do believe he is correct and I'm off in left field again. Every time I'm sure I'm right, I'm wrong.
Most of the problem was, I didn't see the big hook on the end of the 'C'. That's the problem with not having a good clear picture of the entire tang stamp.
Thanks Phil.

Thank you. I appreciate the warm welcome.1967redrider wrote:Beautiful knife, Dickens, and welcome to AAPK.
Since my original post, I've purchased another Folding Hunter and 3 Trappers. I'll post up some pictures in the next couple of days.
An acquaintance of mine on another forum has two brand new Russlocks: 1 crimson and 1 cranberry, and a brand new cranberry Grand Dad Barlow for sale. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put you in contact with him. He's asking $50.00 shipped for either of the Russlocks and $45.00 shipped for the Barlow.
