Mike,
Thank you for a well thought out and well composed post. Please don't stop contributing to this discussion, as it would indeed lack the other perspective that you bring.
Thanks to all, for an interesting read.

I am so glad that all have added post to this form...
Not a one got so angry that they started spitting yet...
I am not good with words and many times people miss read things typed do to the fact not knowing were to place the accent marks.
I have looked at this problem now from both sides of the rope that gets pulled. Thanks to all who posted about knives here...
...For being informative and not a bashing....
I see the bottom line is GEC will get the knife and when you get it back please show it to us.

Thanks for taking the time to write such an informative post, it adresses a lot of mis-information and an education to primitive bone as well as a look at the retailing/wholesaling prospective. Just as in statistics, if you work with flawed numbers, your data is skewed and meaningless, being that it is so off-target from the get-go.
Thanks for the info.

dewmans GEC
Thanks for sharing the facts of your purchase Dewman. I appreciate a thread like this as its very informative. Both sides are actually argued to a small degree. I truly hope GEC gets it together as this country needs a good american product. Once again thank you gentlemen for opening MY eyes.

These are not " shoddy products " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will tell you what makes me want to " throw up " is bullshit responses like this that go on and on and on and on..
No one is perfect !!! So what, a mushroomed pin happens, big freaking deal !!! Send it back to whomever it was purchased from and you will get another ....and then a peaceful nights rest will come . I WILL replace it whether I sold it or not !!!
It's this kind of nickel -dime crappy threads that need to be squashed from the get go !!!!!!!
Yea, I do have an interest in GEC and I will defend them to the hilt.
Geez...some people are so starved for the ability to bitch about any little thing. I am sure this is going to piss off a few individuals , but who really cares ??
I could care less whether Oprah EVER fits into a size 2 EVER again !!! Slam me all you want, I ,for one, will not be back to read the BS.

I hope to learn more about GEC. I truly wish any american company a good run at a cool business, and a hobby that has brought me alot of fun both collecting and conversing about.

Oh boy...
I hope we can all agree that this thread is heading nowhere fast. I am not good at drawing a line in the sand to determine what does and does not constitute inapropriate topics and responses. Especially in this case. Where did things go wrong? Was it the original post?
I would prefer to allow our members to post about their dissapointments as dewman has here. I do have an open mind however, and if anyone feels different about it, I have no problems with that at all. No one agrees on everything.
Bottom line... I need some guidance. This is not a dictatorship. Everyone's opinion matters. A PM or email with your comments, suggestions, concerns would be very much appreciated. This thread is not the AAPK we all know and love.
If we are in need of a policy adjustment, I want to know about it!

Bill I agree 100% with you. Wish I had said it first. GEC is producing a quality product and doing a outstanding job in theit FIRST year.Mint Set Man wrote:These are not " shoddy products " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are doing a outstanding job also (just like GEC). In my opinion there is no need for a policy adjustment. At 77 years of age I have found that there are some people who cannot be satisfied no matter what you do. They will bitch and complain about everything.

I think if ANYONE & EVERYONE will go back and review my very first post, along with the photos, there should be no doubt that it was not just trivial complaints. But, as Bryan said, this is going downhill in a hurry, so....from this point on, I will refrain from further comment on the subject. Enough has been said, and I think my point has been more than vindicated.

polite in a Thread, they should be allowed to criticize a particular Knife
without being accused of Bitching or Bashing. JMHO. You know that Canal
Street Cutlery is a brand new American Knife company and I don't ever
remember seeing posts and pictures of their knives, complaining about
their poor quality and craftsmanship

Still feel the same GEC has my support. I can't really think of any company that does not occasionally have one that needs to go back.Hukk wrote:
I also have defended them quite vigorously I should add, rather blatantly easy to see from my posts.
However, I will not defend an individual defective knife, such as yours.
I still support what GEC is doing and will continue to buy their products.
Knife just goes back, end of story.

I own 8 GEC's now so I feel I can speak on this. Of the 8, I am totally impressed with 7, and the one I'm not head over heals in love with is still a good quality knife with a very minor problem that is not worth the shipping to send it back.
I disagree with Dewman 100% on the GEC knives. I personally will buy more, and without holding them in my hand. However, I think Dewman has every right to state his opinion (as long as it doesn't get vulgar or ugly on this forum.... which it hasn't)
Mint Set Man, I understand your passion and I personally will reccomend GEC knives to anyone and everyone. However, not everyone may share this sentiment and they too have a right to voice their opinion. This of coarse is just MY OPINION Kelley

You are absolutely right Mitch. Canal Street Cutlery, of which I own many never had these issues. BUT, they had one FANTASTIC advantage. They got to cherry pick through the laid off former Schrade employees. So CSC has something GEC was not able to get. And that is:MITCH RAPP wrote:Bryan; Just my 2 Cents, I think if everyone keeps their tone civil and

Wally Gardiner and Joe Hufnagel are joined by Nine Master Cutlers who combine for over 300 years of knife making experience. GEC does not come close as far as experience goes. Also, it takes a couple years to get good at knifemaking and at 2 years, I would regard myself as a beginner.
I own over 50 GEC knives, I prefer them to CSC.

As stated in the topic, this is dewman's FIRST experience with GEC. He was not satisfied and he told why and showed pictures. Nothing wrong with that. I myself have purchased 4 GEC knives. Two were so-so, one wax exceptional, and one was a total wreck. Fine, those are my experiences. Those are FACTS. The FACT is it took 4 knives before I felt I had purchased a quality product. Just my experience. Everyone has their own. I don't know why anyone is trying to censure dewman for stating HIS opinion based on HIS experience.

I agree Johnnie, I just read the whole thread and I don't see anything of the kind. It appears to me that the the subject is very well covered and everyone has been open and spoke freely. I do believe this is the longest thread I've ever seen, covering a single knife. So, in that sense, I see no attempt to silence anyone. If you see what you believe to be an act to censure, please pm me. Please keep in mind that there are about 10 similar threads in here and I see nothing new. Also keep in mind that for every knife you hear that is bad another 100 - 200 were bought and and kept with no problem. I probably said it before, but you'll always hear about the bad, never the good because that is what is expected. Not trying to censure, but it seems we have beat this ONE knife to death.jonet143 wrote:needbucks, no one is trying to silence dewman.

If you want to comment on THIS knife, please feel free. I personally think all readers have formed a judgement on the knife myself, so I hope we can move on to more productive discussion.
