Picked up a 72 pattern from an antique shop for $5. I think it dates to 1946 because if you look on the collectors of Camillus site the 1946 catalog shows the 72 pattern with the coping blade opposite the main blade. All 72 patterns after this date have the coping blade next to the main blade. Whatever the case I like it.

And man did it sharpen up real good.

....rex, that's just like the one(1946-1950) that I use all the time building balsa wood models, I can get it almost as sharp as an xacto knife, and it holds the edge!!.....none of my later ones will do this!!.......if you want to quadruple your money, let me know!!!........ ......................

Thanks for the offer but I like it too much. You're right. I was able to get all 3 blades almost razor sharp.

Cuz, whittling is my thinking time. I love to take a stick of red cedar and see how small a little curly cue shaving I can make. Some how masking myself sit down, focus on what I'm doing clears my mind and let's me ponder.

Shoot I've been known to sit in the living room and whittle into a box. I's be a redneck.

I have this Camillus Wharncliff whittler coming in the mail. What do you think.This is the description.
ANTIQUE CAMILLUS CUTLERY CO 3 BLADE POCKET KNIFE - 3 3/8" closed. Used,sharpened condition. Vintage unsure, circa 1902 to 1915. Thick Mother Of Pearl handles with a tight hair line crack across the back handle. Master blade stamped CAMILLUS CUTLERY CO NEW-YORK. Small blades stamped CAMILLUS(arched) CUTLERY CO NEW-YORK. An early stamp. One small blade has no snap other blades have good snap. A hard to find antique pocket knife.
I will post more pictures when it arrives.

That's a beaut, Shearer. Arched stamp, c. 1915/16, I think. Are the other blades marked?
