This is a little Dwight Divine Ulster jack that found it is way into my shop for restorative surgery. Last week was a busy week and I didn’t get a chance to take a lot of pics of this project, but I did get a few.
It arrived without any handles and the rocker still in place. The poor thing looked like it had lived a hard life and then the old celluloid handles had decided to start off gassing. I didn’t get a scan of it in the condition it arrived in, but I did take this scan after I had dissembled it and started to clean it up.
Not a lot to tell, I just cleaned it up a bit, as there always seems to be a little mess to clean up after celluloid handles have off gassed. I put nice ebony wood handles on it. This is some of the blackest ebony I have seen. I bought a bunch of this a few years ago. The price was right and the quality is excellent.

I didn't try to make it look like a brand new knife, that would have been impossible and it would not have looked right.
I tried to keep the knife as authentic as I could, using wood that was used by Ulster when owned by the Divines.
When it was all said and done I thought it had cleaned up rather nicely!
