That is what I originally thought but 1990 to 93 I thought had the lightning bolt S in the word CASE I have seen alot of 1990 to 1993 and everyone I have seen prior to today hand the lightning bolt.

Re: Need date help with a knife.
I know for a fact that Case used the lightening S/SS's from 1980-89.
The 90-93's have the lightening S in the USA.
Don't know very much about the early 90's knives but don't remember having seen one with the lightening S
Maybe someone with more knowledge will stop buy and help you clear the question up

Re: Need date help with a knife.
Cutty is correct about 90' to 93'!
I believe in the late 80's (could be off on that date) thru the 90's (maybe still today), the "S" in the word "CASE" was as follows...
1. Lightning S = Stainless Steel Blades
2. Regular rounded S = Chrome Vanadium
Could be wrong on the dates but that is my understanding.
No expert but in my opinion that tang stamp belongs to a CASE 90' to 93' knife with CV blades.

You are very right zp4.
They used that Mark from 1990 to1993. If you use a good magnifyinglass you will see the date.

Yes Jerry is correct, and that is still true today about the S. That is how the Case factory keeps track of SS vs CV blades in assembling knives.zp4ja wrote:Cutty is correct about 90' to 93'!
